The house is flooding
Not your house!
But it was somebody’s house, and they were trying to sell it.
A Realtor had a listing that had been sitting vacant for a while. It hadn’t been properly winterized, and when someone turned the water back on, they found out the hard way.
Water started leaking throughout the house.
They called us out to fix it. We found two leaks and repaired them.
Then we found two more.
At that point, we had to have the conversation nobody selling a house wants to have: we recommended replacing the water piping.
The freeze damage was too widespread. We could keep patching the leaks we found, but we weren’t confident the remaining pipes would hold up. And I don’t like charging somebody for a repair when I’m already worried about the next one.
Imagine having a house on the market long enough that you’re tired of paying for it, and now it needs new plumbing.
Not exactly the update you were hoping to get from your Realtor.
So before it gets cold, take a look at what you’ve got sitting empty. A listing, a rental between tenants, that investment property you haven’t checked on lately.
Call The Works (We Build We Fix’s sister company) and have us winterize it. Let’s get it handled before turning the water on becomes an event.
